YouTube in Plain English

Here's a great two-minute explainer video called "YouTube in Plain English"

And here's another one that covers the basics of followers, @ mentions, replies, and direct messages.

Audio Remediation: Creating a 'Soundscape'

When the ear is the only means of receiving a message, words only tell part of the story. The sounds of the story can dramatically enhance the audience experience, both in understanding and in terms of emotional connection.

Here are three examples where a compelling soundscape is used to add authenticity to the audio theatre, and to enrich the story-telling process: A clip from Orson Welles' famous War of the Worlds CBS Radio Theater broadcast, and then two examples from the modern radio theater A Prairie Home Companion.

The Treachery of Images

The French painter Magritte, after painting a pipe, added the caption: "Ceci n'est pas une pipe." He later explained that it would have been a lie to caption it as a pipe, since it was only a representation of one.
His famous painting has stimulated reflection on representations ... versus the thing represented, and has led to a variety of remediations of his initial work. Some are artistic, some humorous, and others provoke further thought. Here are a few of the more interesting.
